MSc to make a new delivery of inverters for tourist submarines

26.11.2024

MSc has received an order to deliver inverters for a tourist submarine operating in the Red Sea holiday resort in Hurghada. MSc’s delivery consists of 3 x 50 kVa thruster inverters, including the main, lateral and vertical thruster drives, and 22kVA/400 Vac/50 Hz auxiliary power converter.

The inverters will replace the original batch installed in the tourist submarine built by Mobimar Oy (then W-Sub Oy) at the Turku Shipyard in the early 1990s. More than 10 similar tourist submarines with MSc’s inverters operate in varied locations around the world: the Red Sea, the Canary Islands, South Korea and China.

With a track record of 35 years in service, the inverters are testament to the proven reliability and long life cycle of MSc’s technology. The new batch of inverters has also been designed for long operability as well as compatibility with submersion cooling systems and to meet the requirements of the ABS classification.

Production of the new inverters is underway, and the delivery will be made to Tarw-trading Ltd in H1/2025.
