MSc co-operates with the Technical Research Centre of Finland in distribution transformer project (STRATA)

MSc Electronics Oy is taking part in the STRATA project led by the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT). Other participants include THT Control Oy and Caruna Oy from Finland as well as organisations from Germany and Scotland.
The project will implement a new type of smart transformer prototype based on MSc Electronics' solution and using THT Control's control and communication systems. The aim is to combine local power generation and energy storage to provide solutions for the flexible management of energy distribution, for example, for quick charging of electric cars and smoothing of charging peaks.
A demo setup has been built at MSc's factory in Tampere to study the interaction between solar panels, energy storage and different load points with a view to optimising electricity prices.
